2 years ago, I wouldn’t have been as possessive of the remote control or the tv listings for the week. In fact, I was jealous of my workmates who not only had satellite, but all had Sky Digital.

No, I have never seen Californication, nor that programme on Virgin with Eddie Izzard that was supposed to be quite good. No, I either didn’t have the bloody channels or the programmes were airing just as my bodyclock was heading into shutdown. I did not have Sky Plus and I was envious of my workmates.

Getting Sky Plus became the be all and end all. And now I have it, well I just can’t get enough of it, or is it that I get too much of it. The thing is, you see, I’m forever setting it to record programmes that I never get around to watching. Maybe I’m just not a TV person.

The planner is particularly full (despite having deleted the fourth series of Kath and Kim a few months ago) this New Year with exciting new programmes such as Flash Forward, new series of favourites such as Fringe, RTE’s Raw and BBC’s Survivors. I’ve also set things to record that I feel I must watch, Gray’s Anatomy, Glee, Nurse Jackie.

What I’m really waiting for is Lost. I’m a big Lost fan and Sky Plus or not, it’s the only series I have stayed faithful to over the last few years. I must admit, I did miss one episode. The one where jack is in Thailand or somewhere in a flashback.

Here’s to good tv, now, what to watch this evening to free up space on the planner for Survivors? I’ll start with Home and Away from lunchtime – a soap I’ve watched on and off since it first aired. Yes, I saw and remember the first episode.
